Greg

Striking & MMA Coach | 30+ Years Martial Arts Experience | Functional Performance Advocate

With over three decades in martial arts, Greg brings a deep well of experience, technical insight, and passion to the Prodigy MMA coaching team.

Starting his journey at 14 with Taekwondo under Greg Wyllie, Greg later trained out of the Bulldogs gyms in North Sydney and Balgowlah where he found his true calling in Muay Thai at 20 - a discipline he has pursued relentlessly ever since.

Greg sharpened his striking across multiple training missions to Bangkok, Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan, and spent 8 formative years under legendary coach Chan Chuck Fei at Jin Wu Koon in Chippendale, where he honed his skills in footwork, speed, precision striking, and conditioning.

A lifelong learner, Greg’s martial arts perspective shifted after watching the first UFC in 1998, where the dominance of grappling became clear. This revelation drove his appreciation for the evolving, multidimensional nature of modern MMA - a sport where technique, intelligence, and adaptability matter as much as toughness.

Greg’s coaching philosophy centres on sustainable progression - built from his own hard-earned lessons in injury prevention, smart training, and recovery. He blends Muay Thai and MMA fundamentals with Olympic lifts, strength and mobility work, and sprint training to help members perform at their peak inside and outside the gym.

At Prodigy MMA, Greg coaches across multiple disciplines with a particular focus on striking and flow movement. Whether you’re recovering from burnout, chasing a belt, or prepping to compete, Greg is committed to helping you become the strongest version of yourself.
