How to use the curriculum

How to use the Prodigy MMA curriculum

A clear guide for new and returning students — how to use the online curriculum and your in-class training together.

The Prodigy MMA curriculum is designed to make your training clear, structured, and enjoyable. Whether you're new to martial arts or returning after time away, this guide shows you how to get the most from it.

The goal is simple:

Train with purpose, progress with clarity, and enjoy every session.
1

Start with your primary pathway

Choose the pathway that best fits your goals:

Striking Pathway

For Muay Thai and MMA striking development.

Grappling Pathway

Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu plus Wrestling foundations.

MMA Pathway

Connecting striking, wrestling, and grappling into one system.

If you are unsure, ask a coach or start with the discipline you enjoy most.

2

Begin at foundation level

Every pathway begins with a foundation page:

  • Striking for MMA Foundations
  • Muay Thai Level 1
  • Gi White Belt
  • No-Gi White Belt
  • Wrestling for MMA Foundations
  • MMA Integration Tier 1

These pages introduce core concepts, basic movement, positional awareness, safety principles, and what to focus on early.

Do not skip foundations — they make every later level easier.
3

Follow the progressions

Each discipline follows a clear progression:

Striking

Levels 1 → 2 → 3 → 4

Grappling

White → Blue → Purple → Brown → Black (Gi & No-Gi)

MMA Integration

Tier 1 → Tier 2 → Tier 3 → Tier 4

You move through each stage when you are ready, not on a fixed timeline. Your coach will guide the timing.

4

Use the online curriculum between classes

The online curriculum is not a replacement for training — it's a support tool. Use it to:

  • Understand the purpose of the module
  • Reinforce key concepts from class
  • Watch the curated YouTube playlists
  • Review positional awareness
  • Stay familiar with terminology
  • Track your progress across disciplines
A little study goes a long way.
5

Check the playlists

Each level or belt comes with a curated playlist chosen for:

  • Accuracy
  • Clarity
  • Relevance to your level
  • Reinforcement of concepts
  • Safety

You don't need to memorise videos — just use them to deepen understanding.

6

Train consistently

The most important part of progression:

Attend consistently.

Skill develops through:

  • Repetition
  • Live training
  • Coaching feedback
  • Time spent in the environment

Use the curriculum to stay focused — but let the mats do the work.

7

Ask coaches for guidance

Your coaches are here to help you:

  • Navigate the curriculum
  • Identify your strengths and weaknesses
  • Understand when you're ready to progress
  • Stay safe and train smart
  • Tailor training to your goals (fitness, skill, MMA, competition)

There are no shortcuts — but there is clear direction.

8

How testing works

When you are ready:

  • Speak to your coach
  • Review the test sheet
  • Use the online curriculum to revise concepts
  • Attend the test session
  • Celebrate your progress
Testing is about commitment, improvement, and consistency — not perfection.
9

How to use multiple pathways

Some students follow more than one pathway:

If you're a pure Jiu-Jitsu student

Follow the Gi or No-Gi path.

If you're a grappling-focused MMA student

Combine No-Gi, Wrestling, and MMA Integration Tier 1.

If you're a striking-focused MMA student

Combine Muay Thai with Striking for MMA Foundations.

If you want to be a complete MMA athlete

Do all three pathways in parallel, starting with:

  • Muay Thai Level 1
  • Striking for MMA Foundations
  • Wrestling for MMA Foundations
  • Gi or No-Gi White Belt
  • MMA Integration Tier 1
10

Use the member dashboard

Members get access to:

  • Full curriculum pages
  • All syllabi
  • Playlists
  • Testing sheets
  • Positional training templates
  • MMA integration sequences

Use the Member Dashboard to keep track of what you've done and what's next.

11

Train safely & enjoy the journey

The curriculum is designed to challenge you — not overwhelm you. Keep these principles in mind:

  • Protect your training partners
  • Ask questions
  • Take notes if helpful
  • Review concepts between classes
  • Celebrate progress
  • Enjoy the process
Martial arts is a long-term journey. Use the curriculum to stay focused, clear, and motivated.
